Meetings on Thursday EveningsOver the last year a number of pregnant mums have met on Tuesday lunch times to pray for their expected babies and for each other. It has been a time of much blessing.
Now WOW! Christian childbirth ministry will hold its first evening meeting on Thursday July 1st at 8pm at Burlington Baptist church centre. This will mean that mums who are still at work can also meet together and share the vision of praying for the next generation of children here in Ipswich. This will be a great opportunity for new pregnant mums to meet the new WOW! team and find out what being part of WOW! could mean for them. WOW leader, Sally Sago, says “If you are expecting a baby, no matter how many weeks pregnant you are, or whatever number baby you are expecting, do come and join us. If you cannot join us, email for more information or tell us how we can support you in prayer.” WOW! meets each Tuesday at 11.45 as usual and is open for anyone to come along. Mums who have had a baby recently can also join them on a Tuesday lunchtime, as many have found it useful to keep meeting after baby’s birth to chat and pray together. Contact: wow@burlingtonbaptist.org.uk or phone 07547 514572 WOW! It’s well over a year since WOW! ladies started to meet on a Tuesday lunch time in February 2009 to pray, share and support each other as they have journeyed through their pregnancies with God and with each other. For some women this has been their first pregnancy whilst others already have children but valued a chance to speak and pray about the newest addition to their family. We have done a lot of talking and a lot of eating biscuits! During this time we have been amazed at God’s answers to both small and large prayers and for His constant love for each one of us. It has been a very productive few months (that’s an understatement!) and we have prayed for different issues each week as they have arisen. We have prayed for Dad’s, for siblings, other family members and also for other members of our church when situations have been known to us such as infertility and miscarriage. Different mums have joined us as time has gone on and we have been blessed with seven new babies over these months. Some of the mums are still all meeting together each week and the babies have been amazingly well behaved. God does not promise that everything will be perfect but through prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit, God can be so much more a part of everyday life, not only during pregnancy and birth but also in bringing the much needed healing and adaptation that follows such an immense life-changing event as birthing a baby. It is suggested that a child is aware of his/her environment from early conception not just after birth. It is not understood how this happens but later in life many people are aware of being wanted and loved or unwanted and rejected.
The idea of the group was inspired by Francis and Judith Macnut who wrote of a vision they shared to see parents pray for their unborn children. If you are interested in joining us please contact wow@burlingtonbaptist.org.uk
Amanda and Noah's Story...I was about 3 months pregnant with my third child when the WOW! group started to meet. People asked me ‘What do you want to go there for?’ ‘Surely you must know all there is to know about pregnancy the third time round’.....and I did!
In the past in my other two pregnancies, I had never come across an opportunity to join anything similar so I was quite excited. Feeling very positive about this group I decided that it was for me and I went along. It turned out that by joining this group it enabled me to support and be supported by other pregnant ladies in the same position as myself and all the "side effects" of being pregnant could (if wished) be discussed and shared, therefore I was not alone. Not only was this group good as a support group but being a Christian group meant that I experienced more depth in pregnancy than I had previously. When I say more in depth, I mean that through my Christian faith and prayer I felt I bonded with my baby while he was in my womb. This was something I didn't do with my other children. With them I needed to make sure they were born safely and although it was only seconds, I didn't bond until I saw them, safe and well. This was about trusting God and praying for my unborn son meant I knew him much more when he was born. Although it didn't make this child any more special than my other two, the whole experience of pregnancy, labour and birth was far more positive. |
